OUDE MODESCHOOL

AMSTERDAM

In this old school in Amsterdam, Manon de Bont | Architects, created a design which embraces the high ceilings that grace each of the different rooms within this property.

An extra floor was introduced which is accessible from the living room and study. Within this extra floor a bathroom, an extra living room and further bedrooms can be found. By introducing a glass bridge, the height of the original ceilings can be appreciated in virtually every space of the house.

A large open kitchen, parallel to the living room, invites for cosy family dinners. This element was really cherished by the client.

Using natural materials such as wood, steel and glass gives this apartment its own unique character. The intelligent use of functional elements such as built-in storage closets make this home not only aesthetically beautiful but also perfectly practical for the family.
