KLEINE HOUTWEG

HAARLEM

This beautiful old house in the centre of Haarlem, the Netherlands, previously had a seperate (small) kitchen and dining room. The clients aspired to unite the two spaces.

By introducing a new zone with a lower ceiling and extending the kitchen to the garden, the two spaces were seamlessly connected. The new kitchen has windows virtually extending from ground to ceiling which can be opened entirely — creating the feeling the inside and outside are one.

By creating wide window sills, internally and externally, natural light can be enjoyed all year round. A true connection with nature can be felt within this space.
