SINGEL

AMSTERDAM

A renovation of a monumental canal house in the centre of Amsterdam.

To generate more space on the first floor of the house, a large cooking island was introduced to the living area.

A feeling of unity between the individual rooms was created by opting for natural materials, such as steel, wood and concrete through the entire house.

In the souterrain, the new owners wanted four bedrooms and two bathrooms. By constructing ‘sleeping-cells’, with all glass walls, it was possible to create four light filled bedrooms with the bathrooms in between.
